
Russ Plowman an Instructor of Horticulture in our Department of Plant and Soil Services. He has taught numerous courses over his six years at our university, including: Principles of Horticulture, Abroiculture, Garden Center and Nursery management, and his personal favorite Floral Design.
Plowman is and will always be a proud Red Raider. He graduated from Texas Tech University twice in his lifetime; first with a B.S. degree in Ornamental Horticulture in 1983 and then again in 1985 with his M.S. degree in Ornamental Horticulture. He is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Horticulture.
Professor Plowman is just as active outside of the classroom as he is inside. Plowman is a member of the Ornamental Horticulture Research Group here at Texas Tech University. The group shares the goal of maximizing the benefits of utilizing ornamental plants while minimizing the environmental impact of landscape plant management. He is also a member of the accredited American Institute of Floral design. With this this select group, Plowman shares his ideals for people to appreciate floral design as an art concept.
